To create a sustainable, spiritual community:
1. that lives by the Lightwork Principles.
2. where there is a high degree of environmental consciousness.
3. whose landscape is designed and maintained using permaculture principals.
4. that serves as a learning center.
5. where there is community support.
6. that is a sustainable and healthy model for life on the planet.
7. that shares Lightwork with the greater world.
Details of our intention:
1. Live by the Lightwork Principles
All community activities are based on the Lightwork Principles and reside within the overall Lightwork spiritual energy set.
Values:
Honesty
Integrity
Respect
Compassion
The intention of the community is to grow spiritually using Lightwork Principles.
2. Environmental Consciousness
-Employ sustainable technologies E.g. solar panels, micro hydro, grey water, rain water collection, recycling building materials.
-Use of non-toxic materials when feasible.
-Preference to use local labour and resources.
-Maintain the grounds and common buildings consciously.
-Environmentally sensitive supplies are used in the common and personal spaces. E.g. toilet tissue, dish washing liquid, laundry soap, cleaning supplies.
-Food waste composting.
3. Permaculture Principals
-Farm a large, organic food production garden. It is not necessarily certified, but the organic principals are followed. The community gets most of its produce from this garden.
-Bill Mollison's work in permaculture is used to design and maintain the grounds.
-Foster and develop creative spaces with clear spiritual intent.
-Sculptures and beautiful designs are used through out the grounds.
4. Learning center for Lightwork spiritual practice and sustainable living.
-Members and visitors are offered tools to aid in spiritual growth by taking Lightwork classes.
-Classes in permaculture design are offered.
5. Community Support
-A community that offers emotional support. A second family with whom one can celebrate and mourn life's joys and trials.
-Regular group dinners, dances, drumming and sharing circles in the common house.
-The common house is a place to go when you want company.
-A community that offers physical support. As a team, big jobs become less daunting.
-Have sign up sheets where members can earn credits by doing communal jobs. Like gathering fire wood for the community or putting in a day of work in the garden.
-Members use the common kitchen for canning and preserving.
6. A Model Community
-Train others how to create their own sustainable community using this one as a blue print
-Give visitors lodging and food in exchange for work throughout the grounds.
7. Share Lightwork with the greater world
-Visitors are welcome to visit the community.
-Community members produce creative works, presentations and performances designed to go on tour.
-Productions are recorded and available for sale on CD and DVD via the Internet.
-Lightwork principles and classes are shared via the Internet, web broadcasting, and on-line classes.
