The Lightwork Ecovillage crew consisted of Keith Grennan, Eric Dixon, Julia Thiessen, Lyle Povah, Krista Morrison, Scott Robinson and Cloe Robinson.  As we waited for the Mercury Launch to arrive the rain came down in buckets.  Far from having their spirits dampened it provided an opportunity to upgrade the tap dancing skills of our crew.  The puddles created an extra visual effect. The mission was a new door installation, Easter Egg Hunt and Sustainable Building soil tests.

As we cruised into Howe Sound the rain stopped and the day got brighter revealing the most complete rainbow many of us had ever seen.

After arrival on Gambier Island we look back toward the east and see the light breaking onto the ocean.

Our new double glazed fully insulated door was reported to weigh 180 pounds. Thankfully it was far lighter then this and could be handled by 2 people easily. After some skillful 4-wheel driving in the mud from the rain, Troopy is loaded with the gear and our new door to be brought up to the Ecovillage.

Armed with his favourite piece of equipment Scott chainsaws a bigger opening for the door to be installed.

Looks good so far!

Eric, Scott and Lyle come up with creative carpentry techniques to ensure satisfaction.

Fully installed it is a thing of beauty, and keeps the rain out too! Our interm community house is very exposed and takes major beatings from the weather which was creating some fairly serious leaks. We are hoping this is solved with the new door.

Ah satisfaction!

The sun is fully out now and is shining through our lovely stainglass window, donated by Phyl Robinson of Hornby Island.

The Easter Egg Hunt Begins! Our first ever at the Ecovillage.

Cloe hunts far and wide and judging by the bulge in her kangaroo jacket is being very successful.

On Monday, Jim Traynor, our expert in sustainable building systems arrives. We are very happy to have him at the Ecovillage.

Jim touches into the land preparing to give us our first lesson.

Near the community house future construction site Jim checks the different levels of soils, subsoils, sand and clay, all vital ingredients in a earth friendly home.

The soil tests look good. Our land is providing what we need.

We locate an excellent source of stone for foundation work.

After our 2 days at the Ecovillage, we rest on the dock waiting for the water taxi back to Horseshoe Bay. The sun is shining and so are we.
