We were greeted by the blooming flowers on daffodil lane this Sunday at the Ecovillage. The deer only ate a few before they decided the taste of daffodil isn't for them.
Inukshuk and daffodils.
It's sprintime at the Ecovillage.
Ah yes, measuring plastic in the rain, but Krista forges forward knowing a warmer cabin awaits.
Julia and Krista taking care of business - we found very quickly that the local animal neighbours found our insulation to be lovely building materials so we sealed the insulation under the cabin with plastic in hopes that they will built a more environmentally friendly home elsewhere.
Scott builds a wooden frame for a solar panel. It is an inexpensive "Eliminator" - 15 watt solar panel that we have already had to replace once. We are starting small with the solar system, but will evolve from here.
The solar panel is mounted on top of our intern community house (cabin) to harvest the power of the sun.
It is just the beginning; imagine that whole roof covered with solar panels!
Getting ready for lunch in our lovely little kitchen.
Check this out! 500 litres of water caught from the sky! Catchment is cool.
Scott lovingly adds some beautiful lily babies to the garden, generously donated by Colleen Steel - she brought them all the way from Doreston on the Sunshine Coast.
It was a cool spring day at the ecovillage with westcoast mists nearby. This place is beautiful in every weather.
