The Ecovillage is teaming with action this time of year. From roads to roofs things are making great steps forward.
Valentines at the Ecovillage. Love, love, love!
Julia getting down with the love.
Ecovillagers feeling sun on their faces!
Welcome to the Lightwork Ecovillage Darsi Kamay. Darsi has moved to Vancouver from Cortes Island to be closer to the Lightwork community and partake in the Ecovillage creation.
5 fruit trees (plum, pear, peach, apricot and cherry) waiting to be be planted in the Ecovillage orchard. So far the orchard has 2 sentinel apple trees and a stella cherry tree. The Ecovillagers are brainstorming ways to eat and preserve the future orchard bounty.
In the Hawk House Scott installed a range hood over the gas stove. This is an important safety feature and also has a light to illuminate the cooking area. The fan and the light of the range hood are solar powered. Our solar panel on the roof charges a battery in the basement powering the system. 2 shelves were constructed adding more much needed storage space in the kitchen.
The crew got busy cleaning up the construction debris and utilizing the new shelves.
This is what it is like to cook in this area now. One of the healing aspects of the ecovillage is deepening one's gratitude for the simplest things. The Ecovillagers relish in each new creation. They have found that when they build things by hand the appreciation level is huge.
At the cob building site after several days of work all the 45's have been installed, yes.
Sweet!
When the crew arrives on the land they begin the day sitting on the beautiful deck enjoying the view, the land, the Ecovillage creation and the company.
Scott scouted out a tree for the cob building ridge beam. With great honour for the tree it was felled, and stripped. All parts of the tree will be used for construction.
A brand new drawn knife assists with stripping the tree. It is a beautiful, sharp instrument.
Lyle happy to be working at the Ecovillage.
The ridge beam is up. Scott has to go to the chiropractor, he has ice on his back right now! - this is not going to be an on-going activity. But the beam looks sweet.
It is beautiful.
Now the rafters.
The cob structure is taking shape.
Another big event that happened this Spring are the additions to the Ecovillage access road.
Keith looking down at the culvert under the road's stream crossing.
After many many hours of laborious road building by hand, then paying for excavators to complete the stream crossing, the access road is drivable. It is rough in some parts, but drivable.
The much anticipated Annual Easter Weekend Egg Hunt!
Oh, found one!
Springtime at the Ecovillage is teaming with life and activity as buildings grow, birds migrate back to the land, seeds sprout, frogs lay their eggs, flowers blossom and Ecovillagers rejoice in the journey.
