Enter Eddie…the Lightwork crew need some reinforcements so they bought a 1990 Ford F150 4x4 custom extended cab short box with a 5.0 for power to get up their big hills. Yes, it is a big engine, but they do need the power and the strength of a bigger vehicle. The crew is only driving from the dock to the Lightwork land which is about 1 mile so the engine isn’t running very much. The 4x4 is needed of course because the access is challenging and also awesome. Eddie rocks.

They hired Bruce and his totally cool landing craft boat to take Eddie across Howe Sound to Hope Point where the sacred Ecovillage lays. The culverts in the back of Eddie will most likely be used in the stream crossing project when the crew gets that far. Here you see Bruce hauling up the ramp, there as about 1 inch to spare on either side of Eddie.

It turned out that the captain was the Ecovillage’s friend Brian Ross who is one of the Ecovillage neighbours on Hope Point. He was glad that there were calm waters that day for Eddie is quite a load.

As they cruised across Howe Sound Scott made sure that the front hubs were locked in the 4 wheel drive position. For he knew that soon he would be driving Eddie backwards off the landing craft into a couple feet of water and onto the beach. Cool.

Eddie did get a scratch on his front left fender but other than that the landing went smoothly. Here Eddie is parked on the Ecovillage’s driveway in process, happy to be at his new home.

Eddie you good looking fellow you.

Later that night there was a distinctive celebratory feeling as the Ecovillage crew made dinner on a warm early summer’s eve.

After dinner it was time for a nice facial and foot bath. The Ecovillagers like to say they have it all.

Well Keith, at least your toes are getting the spa treatment.

Cloe, Krista and Cathy happy to be heading to the Ecovillage for some more days of adventure.

The sun was shining on the back of the water taxi. Another beautiful day in Howe Sound.

Scott ready for the next adventure.

Each bag of PSI 6000 cement weighs 55 pounds. The Ecovillage crew brought 6 of them to our road construction site.

Since the construction of the stream crossing is on hold while some details are worked out the crew drives the cement up to one side of the creek in Eddie, carries the cement across the creek and up and it is loaded into Troopy which is taken to the construction site. The Ecovillager's dedication is deep. Cathy has a 55 pound bag of cement in the pack.

The road construction banditos! It is important not the breathe the cement dust so of course the Ecovillage crew had fun with the bandannas.

Working on getting the recipe just right.

Scott and Julia mix cement as Troopy waits in the background for traction to be created.

Image

Image
A lot of this is experimentation, the crew is attempting to create solid traction on quite steep sections of their driveway using a combination of cement, rock and rebar.

Next batch.

Image
The crew will try a number of different concepts and are confident they will create the traction needed for the vehicles. The hill is steeper then this picture presents.) The crew is also getting excited about the creative possibilities of this venture.

A wise Ecovillager.

Another mission accomplished. You get out of it, what you put into it.
