A crew of 7 excited Ecovillagers headed over to the much loved Ecovillage land on the 10 am water taxi, Sunday April 8th.
The sky was filled with moisture that hugged in the mountains.
Goodbye City!
Hello Ecovillage!
Since Troopy is in process with his repairs the crew hiked up to the land carrying their sleeping bags and food.
Once on the land Scott scouted and found a fallen tree that will be used as one of the posts on the deck extension.
The chainsaw getting ready for the cut.
Nice cut Robinson.
Stripping the log reveals a beautiful cream layer of wood under the bark.
This is a satisfying job that many Ecovillagers enjoy.
A crew tackled the construction of a new composting toilet. The first composting toilet is now full and is resting for 1 year while it composts and creates nutrient rich fertilizer.
The composting toilet site has a well marked path of rocks leading the visitor to a private treed patch. It feels so nice in there, sometimes people visit this part of the land just to hang out!
Inukshuk holding space.
Yes, after many attempts the new throne is complete with roof, and ventilation piping.
The roof gives the user and toilet shelter, does not block out light and creates a great visual with the branches and sky.
Time for the sleepover! 'Fish' and 'Cheat' were the card games of choice. There was a lot of fishing and a lot of cheating done during this card playing session.
Meanwhile the adults enjoyed a reading of a Raven story on the first floor of the Hawk house (the new name for the cabin).
Relaxing after a physical day at the Ecovillage.
This evening the Hawk house fit 7 people upstairs, here you see a few heads and a pair of feet enjoying a good nights sleep!
In the morning it was time to play some baseball, of course!
This was a high stakes game.
The naturally carved bat shown here was the bat of choice for most of the players.
Batter Up!
The Ecovillage Baseball team is born.
Wow, more fun, now it's time for the Annual Easter Egg Hunt.
The Easter bunny was generous offering chocolate eggs around Hawk House, the tepee and cob structure.
At lunchtime the creative juices kept flowing.
Cloe kept a close eye on her tower of grapes to ensure the structural integrity was kept intact until dessert time.
Julia clearing the land in front of the cob structure.
Colleen tends to the potato patch, planting seed potatoes with Cloe and Aiden.
After planting most of the potato patch Collen set a side some space dedicated to another potato planting technique where you till the soil and lay the seed potatoes on top of the soil and cover the seeds with straw.
Time to go.
On the way back to the city a vibe of love and gratitude was felt amongst the crew, thankful to have the Ecovillage and each other.
