We had been on retreat in Mexico for quite a while the Ecovillage was enduring numerous winter storms without our presence. We were eager to see how our sacred land was doing.
We live in the north this is the sun close to noon. It still hangs low in the sky and only warms up what it directly touches.
Where the sun warms the earth the frost disappears. Where the sun does not hit it remains.
Last falls leaves frozen in time.
Scott spent some time surveying winter blow down trees for their potential as building materials.
Here are some awesome poles for building ready to be harvested.
One of the other projects Scott had on the go this day was location scouting for the water tank. It needs to be accessible and at a higher elevation then both the cabin and the cob structure. This will provide gravity feed when completed. This beautiful location right here in this photo is just the spot. We will move the water tank up here when we have a large enough crew in the near future.
A visit to Gandalf and Shadowfax meditation site is a sweet treat in the middle of the day.
Intimate moment with Shadowfax (Shadowfax is a powerful tree).
The blue tarp in the distance is the cob structure construction site. It is proposed that the land in the foreground would be the site for an open field for recreation.
Well not too much damage after the most recent storms. Krista and Scott removed several houndred pounds of ice and water from the tarp.
One of the hurricane force winds blew in one of the door frames but not much damage considering the forces at play.
We are going to extend the size of the deck at the cabin. These two 2 x 4's show how big it will be.
Krista and Scott mix up some mortar.
And with rock and rebar create a sweet and solid footing for one of the posts.
The Lightwork Ecovillage sits in the sun and warms up nicely even on the coldest days. The other side of the mountain however stays frozen on the cold winter days.
Keith was working on Troopy today. He is still in the process of assessing what is needed to repair Troopy's brakes.
The winter is beautiful here, lovely banks of fog were flowing in and out throughout the day.
The mountains in the distance covered with snow and feeling the last of the suns rays on this day.
As the fog picks up the setting suns rays we head back to the city remarking on how deeply satisfying our relationship with the land is.
