As the Ecovillage crew left the city they observed the unusually high surf pounding the Vancouver beaches, Scott remarked, She might be a bumpy crossin' this mornin'! There was a small craft warning in English Bay but as we have noticed many times before the weather in Howe Sound is very different then the weather in English Bay, even though they are adjacent to each other. Sure enough when we reached Sunset Marina, our departure point, the water was only a small chop.
It was a very dramatic morning, every direction you looked the weather was different.
In Howe Sound the ocean was much calmer so there were many tug boats and barges waiting out the storm.
The colourful show of Maple leaves greeted us again at the Ecovillage.
Scott and Julia T. decided to tackle the installation of our new window overlooking Howe Sound, upstairs inside the interim-community house. This side of the building takes the brunt of the winter storms so this window needs to be installed to withstand the high winds and gale force rain of the West Coast winter. First step take the chainsaw out and cut a big hole in the wall. Hopefully the same size as the window!
Now that's fun!
Upon completion of the project our light and view is greatly magnified.
Meanwhile downstairs Keith was insulating the same side of the interim-community house. Good to see you are wearing your safety mask.
This was Keith's first visit to the Shadowfax power meditation spot. He enjoyed it immensely. Over at the cob house Krista was adding another layer of cob to the east wall.
The sun is even at a lower angle now and the evenings come early. So beautiful, so happy. Another great day at the Ecovillage.
